Yesterday, BMW announced that it has joined President Obama's American Business Act on Climate Pledge, which adds support to COP21, the United Nations climate conference, currently taking place in Paris, France. So far, 154 companies from across the American economy, have come forward in support of the climate initiative.

“The American Business Act on Climate Pledge demonstrates our company’s public commitment to fight climate change by taking action,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “With this commitment, the BMW Group further shows its intent to continue being a leader in sustainability across the entire value chain: from R&D to manufacturing to operations.”

One of the most sustainable automakers in the world, BMW Group is the only automotive company to be listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), every year since 1999. Through this pledge, the company aims to be a world leader, in regards to sustainability and renewable energy among automobile manufacturers, by the year 2020.
