When to Undertake Fluid Service

For your car to work smoothly, it needs fluids. If your car’s fluids run out or low, it can lead to more problems, such as more expensive parts breaking down. Let the BMW service team at i.g. Burton BMW help you care for your vehicle with these fluid tips.

Transmission Fluid - When it smells like it is burned, your transmission fluid is getting old and needs to be changed. We encourage you to check the fluid on a monthly basis, and replace it after every 15,000 to 60,000 miles, depending on your model.

Power Steering Fluid - At least check the level of the power steering fluid once a month and top it off when necessary. However, have it flushed and replaced during the routine service of your BMW.

Coolant - Typically, the coolant needs replacement once or twice every year. However, top it off when necessary.

Brake Fluid - When your brake pedal goes all the way to the floor or the brakes feel rough, check the brake fluid. You need to replace it at least once every year but top it off when low.

Oil - Our experts recommend an oil change after every 3,000 miles or according to the manufacturer’s recommended oil change schedule.

It is best to leave the fluid service to the professionals. Visit us at our Greenville BMW dealership for quality checks and services.
